Knowledge V/s Marks

The world is turning more competitive day by day, the only way to sustain and grow in this kind of fierce competition is to do better than others, this applies in every domain not only in education

Educational competition starts on personal level between two students or friends competing with each for better marks and it goes all the way to school competing for better overall results to be the one having the toppers. There is nothing bad in it as it is great marketing strategy which is working for them but let’s emphasize more on the importance of marks on long term in one’s career. Marks are one of the most important parameter of judgement in education system and it is indeed correct as someone who needs to get into prestigious colleges/universities of the country, the cutoff is the first thing which should be cleared but sometimes too much attention to marks can lead to over competition what it is almost always detrimental for students. It can certainly have adverse effects on their mental health and sometimes the relations with their friends.

Marks may guarantee a short-lived fame but its impact on overall success is not always huge because it depends on how someone is applying the knowledge that he/she has gained in school or college in real-world. That application is an absolute necessity to excel in any field so having knowledge of the subject is as important if not more as getting good marks.  We urge the parents not to compel their kids to get highest marks in class or school but to focus on each subject and to gain the maximum knowledge out of it and they will surely hit bull’s eye in any of the career paths they choose.
